Launched

Today at 9pm PST, the former JotSpot team launched Google Sites!

I'm really excited to have it available, so that I can start using it, get some customers, and finally talk about it. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but I think this is a great start. And I think we're headed in a really good direction--- better than JotSpot's direction, actually--- and this time ready for a ton of users.

I signed myself up to be the primary oncall for the service, so that I can babysit it today, our launch day. So now I'm just gonna sit back, grab some coffee, and see if the system we built can handle what you throw at it.

Bring it on!

Here's my favorite page:

I tried to send you mail through the link, but that didn't work so well.

So, since I broke it already I think I'll go back to my actual job.

Well done, man!

I wonder how the Backpack folks feel about this? :)

Wow, congratulations!

It's funny to see how the evolution of web apps kind of follow the Internet in its early days. Collaborative sites are now trying to solve the same information dissemination issues like the early days of WWW on the net. Blogs were like email digests. So I wonder when someone's going to do a Web 2.0 to Web 2.0.

I got a message about Google sites from our IT guy this morning and was on there tinkering around trying to see if this would be a good option for our company. I started building a site and while I was going back and forth looking at the sample sites - HOLY CRAP - you are the Chief Grower! We need to catch up. I promise not to ask you too many technical questions (though I do want to know how change the comment time/date stamp on my comments.)
